Meet Maddalena Boselli
Space Software Designer at Huld
Software Designer Maddalena Boselli works with space projects in our Prague office. Maddalena thinks the most important skill for a Software Designer is to always be open to learn new ways of thinking and working. Although coming from the mountains of Northern Italy, her favourite place in the world is Rome. To her, no matter what time of the year, the light and atmosphere there are magical.
What is your background story?
"I have studied physics, a world unrelated to software. Back in my academic days, I dived deep into nuclear physics and even tried my hand at coding there – though, if I’d look back to the code now, it probably wasn’t that good, hah!
My path took a turn when I jumped into a whole new universe at Huld in Prague, out of the academic world. The transition was like switching gears, from a slower pace to a more dynamic speed and defined goals. But here’s the thing: the background in physics taught me to be fearless of the unknown. When you face something that seems complicated, you know if you just give yourself time to absorb it, it’ll be fine."
What about space attracts you?
"It’s the idea of the unknown. Every time a new project starts, it’s like opening a door to another dimension, when reading the description and the goals of the project. The feeling of playing a small role in the bigger picture of shaping the future really draws me in."
What's the best part of your job?
"That although it’s all space related, it still varies a lot. In each project, there lies a new learning opportunity with its unique backstory and aims.
Everything comes together in teamwork, of course. In my team, I have a lot of freedom and trust on how I do my work. At the same time, they are always there for me to lend a helping hand, when things get challenging."
What’s the best advice you have received from a fellow Huldian?
"I have a colleague who I refer as my “light”. He knows a lot of the type of programming I do, and has guided me through the labyrinth of tricks, techniques and elegant approaches of coding.
We are a pretty small team in Prague, so I like the idea that our team is always working together in almost all the projects."
Who is your role model?
"My mom. In my life and work, I try to reach what she did. My mom didn’t always have the easiest route back then years ago, but she managed to grow from there and improve her life.
Whenever I face some difficulties, I keep her in my mind – I want to learn to be like her."
